"Integration through Qualification (IQ)"

Competence Centre for Counselling and Job Training of Migrants

The IQ Competence Centre for Counselling and Job Training of Migrants  supports and accompanies members of the Network "Integration through Qualification (IQ)" in two areas: counselling on credentials recognition and job trainings as well as training schemes in the context of the Recognition Act. The competence centre disseminates results and findings from these areas to decision-makers in politics, administration, business and the (specialist) public.

The specific foci of work of the IQ Competence Centre for Counselling and Job Training of Migrants are:

  • Promoting the professionalization of IQ counsellors and trainers by offering training courses, information material and networking events that facilitate the exchange of practical experience

  • Supporting the quality development and quality control of training schemes and counselling

  • Continuously developing and providing concepts, processes, instruments and practical guidelines

  • Developing virtual bridge training schemes for academics and virtual compensation measures for professionals in the dual system

  • Promoting thematic and interdisciplinary exchange within Network IQ by organizing conferences, expert meetings, etc.

  • Monitoring of counselling activities and job training schemes offered by IQ

  • Preparing and disseminating monitoring results - together with academic findings to politics, administration, business and the interested (specialist) public

The Research Institute for Vocational Education [Forschungsinstitut Betriebliche Bildung (f-bb)] implements the IQ Competence Centre for Counselling and Job Training of Migrants. The institute carries out application-oriented research into professional education. Migration has been one of its fields of expertise for a long time. Current developments, such as a growing shortage of skilled workers, increased immigration and new legal regulations for credentials recognition render projects in this field more important. Alongside the "Analyses of Potentials in Educational Counselling for Immigrants" and "XENOS Panorama Alliance", for example , the IQ Competence Centre for Counselling and Job Training of Migrants is one of the projects within the Network "Integration through Qualification" with this focus.
