The Network IQ and MDA Queensland - exchanging experiences for more inclusive societies: A study visit in Brisbane, Australia

In late October, Liam Patuzzi of the Network IQ visited several refugee and migrant integration projects in and around Brisbane, Australia, accepting a generous invitation by the non profit organization MDA (Multicultural Development Australia). This trip followed up on an earlier visit to Berlin from MDA executives Kerrin Benson and Mitra Khakbaz in July, to learn about the Network IQ and other integration projects in the German capital. As one of the largest multicultural agencies in Australia, MDA supports refugees, asylum seekers, international students, migrants, and receiving communities in the process of settlement and integration.

During his one-week stay at MDA, Liam Patuzzi had the opportunity to learn about numerous programmes for labour market integration of newcomers, ranging from upskilling (Skilling Queenslanders for Work) to job placement (Work & Welcome) and credential recognition (Career Pathways Program). The visit included insightful and inspiring conversations with employment agencies, social enterprises, government representatives, and the fantastic team of MDA. In a luncheon keynote in Brisbane, Liam Patuzzi presented the Network IQ to a very interested audience of about sixty experts and practitioners in the area of migrant and refugee integration.
