OECD: Migrants experience obstacles in their education pathway

On 11 September, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) published the annual report "Education at a Glance". The study looks at the education systems in 46 countries (including the 36 OECD members and ten partner countries) and covers the entire education pathway, from early childhood education to further training for adults.

The report reveals that, also in Germany, migrants still face considerable difficulties along the different stages of their education career. For example, first- and second-generation migrants are less likely to obtain a higher education degree compared to the general population. This and other disadvantages often lead to poorer employment outcomes.

The report is available on the OECD website here.
