IQ Online-Seminar on 24 February: Upskilling and Inserting Migrants Aged 45+ in the Labour Market

Network IQ ('Integration through Qualification'), Germany's flagship programme to promote the integration of migrants into the labour market, will hold an Online-Seminar will on the "Upskilling" of adults with a migration background. Approaches and practical experiences from Romania will be presented.

The Online-Seminar, which will be held in English, will take place on 24 February 2022 from 11 am – 12 pm CET. Denisa Centea, Researcher and Trainer at the Romanian Institute for Adult Education in Timisoara, will present concepts and experiences regarding the labour market integration of adult migrants aged 45 years or older. She will focus on specific training programmes for education providers and training staff as well as on concepts for upskilling and qualifications especially adapated and developed for the target group.

Adult educators, employers, advisors, project managers, skilled workers, local officials, business promoters and other stakeholders interested in the labour market integration of migrants are warmly invited to participate in this seminar.

Key questions will include:

  • Which solutions and services are suitable for upskilling, reskilling, and reinserting adults 45+, with a migration background, into the labour market?
  • How does the project UPAM45+ reach out to migrants above 45 years? How do community-based organisations and educational institutions respond to the newcomers/return migrants?
  • How does the project UPAM45+ train adult education providers?
  • Which integrated solutions should adult educatorors consider while working together with migrants 45+?
  • What are specific challenges in the labour market integration and community insertion of migrants 45+, and how to solve them?
  • How does UPAM45+ respond to the labour market situation of return migrants in Romania?
